How it works

  1. Ask your question

Think about what matters to you right now and put it into words. You can also leave the field empty and simply draw the cards.

  2. Choose your cards

The deck is shuffled and you pick the cards from a fan yourself. In a hurry? Press “Skip”.

  3. Read the meaning

The cards turn over one by one; below them is the meaning of each in its position and a link to the card’s full page.

Online tarot reading: how it all works

How an online tarot card reading works

Our online tarot cards are the full 78-card Rider–Waite deck, scanned from the original 1909 edition. The cards are shuffled on the server by a cryptographically secure random number generator, so a reading is just as unpredictable as one with a physical deck. Any card can come up upright or reversed, and each position has its own interpretation: the general meaning, love, work and advice. Your reading is saved, and you can open it by its link for 30 days.

How to phrase your question

Open questions about yourself work best: “What do I need to understand about the new job?” or “How should I handle this conflict?”. Questions like “When exactly will it happen?” don’t suit the cards: they speak of directions, not dates. Ask one question at a time. If you need a short yes or no, choose the “Yes or no” spread. Or don’t write a question at all: the cards will show you what deserves your attention right now.

Positions and reversed cards

Each spread has its own positions: in “Past, present, future” the same card reads differently depending on where it lies. In tarot the future is a trend, not a verdict: it shows where things are heading if nothing changes. A reversed card isn’t a “bad” card: its energy shows up more weakly, with a delay or turned inwards. If you’d rather not use reversed cards, you can switch them off in the settings below the question.

Which spread to choose

The card of the day is a short hint for today; it’s one per day and doesn’t count towards the monthly limit. “Yes or no” is for a direct question. “Past, present, future” shows how a situation is developing. The love spread helps you look at a relationship, “Situation” helps you see what is going on and what is in the way, and the ten-card Celtic Cross suits complex questions. You’ll find other tarot spreads in the catalogue.

How a reading differs from expert advice

Tarot is a reason to pause and think, to see your situation from the outside. The cards don’t predict events and don’t replace a doctor, lawyer, psychologist or financial adviser. If things feel hard, it’s better to talk to people close to you or to a professional, and keep the reading for calm reflection.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tarot reading really free?

Yes. Without a subscription you get three readings a month: you can see how many are left below the button. The card of the day doesn’t count towards the limit, so you can draw it every day. If you read more often, there’s a subscription.

Do I need to register?

Not for a reading: just ask your question and choose the cards, with no name or email needed. To count free readings, the site uses an anonymous cookie and an anonymised IP fingerprint. The AI interpretation of the spread opens after a free sign-in, with no password.

Is my question saved?

Yes, together with the reading; otherwise it couldn’t be opened by its link. So anyone with the link will see your question. After 30 days (12 months with a subscription) the question and cards are deleted, and you can delete a reading sooner with the button on its page.

How random are the cards?

The deck is shuffled on the server by a cryptographically secure random number generator. The deck is shuffled before you see the fan, and you turn over the card that lies in the place you pick. Just as with a real shuffle, there’s no knowing in advance which card lies where.

Can I ask the same question several times?

You can, but it’s better not to redraw until you like the answer: the first reading is usually the most honest. Come back to the question when something changes.

What does a reversed card mean?

It isn’t a “bad” card: its energy shows up more weakly, with a delay or turned inwards. You can switch reversed cards off in the settings below the question.

Can a reading predict the future?

A spread shows trends and helps you see the situation from the outside, but it doesn’t decide what will happen. The decisions stay yours, and for questions of health, money or law it’s best to see a professional.
